How to Clean a Hat Made of Polyester & Spandex

Things You'll Need

• Hat: polyester/spandex blend
• All-purpose detergent
• Fabric softener (optional)

Instructions

1. Reverse your hat inside out. This will help prevent any fabric snags or pulls. Read the care label for special cleaning instructions.

2. Machine wash your polyester spandex hat in warm water with all-purpose detergent. If you have a stubborn stain, pour a small amount of the detergent directly onto the stain and rub into the fabric before washing. Make sure you work the detergent into the fabric's grain line.

3. Add fabric softener if your hat is prone to static electricity. The softener will reduce it. Rinse your hat thoroughly before drying.

4. Line dry or place your hat onto a hat rack for drying. If your instructions call for tumble dry, make sure your machine's setting is low. It is very important to not over dry or dry on a high setting. If your hat's fabric content has a significant amount of polyester, the heat will cause the fabric to gradually shrink and lose its hat shape.
