      Power off your DSL modem by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the modem. Position the Dlink router adjacent to your DSL modem. Plug the router into a power strip or wall outlet by using the 5V DC power adapter that came with the router.

      Connect an ethernet cable, preferably a 2-foot or less length of cable, to the back of the DSL modem. Insert the other end of the ethernet cable to the WAN port on the back of the router. Power on the DSL modem.

      Restart your computer. Go to your internet browser's search window, type "http://192.168.0.1" and hit the enter key. Type "admin" for the user name once a log-on screen appears. Leave the password empty and hit the "OK" button. Hit the "Run wizard" button once the home screen appears.

      Follow prompts in the setup wizard, then test the Internet connection by relaunching your web browser.
