How to Lend Books from a Nook

How to Lend Books from a Nook thumbnail
Lend a book electronically.

One of the great features of the Barnes and Noble Nook is that you can lend your eBooks out one time to one friend for 14 days only, provided they have an account with bn.com. Your friend does not need a Nook to be able to read the eBook. Your friend can use her computer or smart phone to read the book. However, while your book is lent, you do not have access to it. In addition, not all books are lendable and you can only lend a Nook book one time.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather the friend's email address to whom you want to lend the Nook book. When you lend the book to your friend, you will not be able to read it for the 14 days that it is borrowed.

    • 2

Check for the LendMe icon next to your books to see which ones you can lend. If you have a lendable book that you want to lend to a friend, go to your Nook's library. Select "View Item," then Details. Select "Lend."

    • 3

Select the email address that is either already defined in your Nook or create a new contact by typing in your friend's email address.

    • 4

Add a personal note and select "Submit" and "Confirm." If your friend already has that book on his Nook, the loan will not go through and you can lend your book to someone else. Your friend has seven days to accept or decline the loan of the Nook book. Once a loan offer is sent to a friend, it can't be retracted.
