It is simpler to attach a sewing machine to a cabinet if you have a partner to hold the machine in place while you attach it to the cabinet.
Draw a picture of your sewing room as you would like it before buying a cabinet, then measure to make sure a cabinet will be feasible in the space.
Make sure your machine has attachment holes before purchasing a cabinet. If there are no holes, your machine cannot be used with a cabinet.
Computerized sewing machines should only be used with air-lift cabinets. These cabinets raise and lower the machine on a lift so that it is never placed on its side.

Used cabinets should not be purchased unless you are certain it can be used with your machine.
Although most cabinets can be adjusted, there are always scenarios when attaching a new machine to an old cabinet will not work.
