How to Find the Perfect Gift for Mom
Whether it's Mother's Day, her birthday or another special occasion, any time is a good time to make Mom feel special. When it comes to a mom, generally any gift that comes from a child will be cherished, regardless of cost. It is important, however, to get a feel for the types of things your mother likes and doesn't like. That way, Mom can see the thoughtfulness that went into choosing the gift.

Talk to your dad or your mom's best friends to find out what she really likes. If you spend a lot of time with your mom, you probably have some ideas. But it can't hurt to get a little more information from other people who are close to your mom. Ask specific questions about fragrances and perhaps wines she likes, hobbies you might not be aware of and the brands she tends to buy most often.

Think about what your mother needs. This is one of the best ways to show your mom that you care and took the time to really consider what would make her happy. For example, if you know that your mom has aches and pains after a tough day at work, or she's feeling stressed, think about a massage or a day at the spa.

Sometimes the best gifts from a child can be those that cost nothing, especially when it gives Mom the chance to have some time to herself. For example, giving your mom a coupon book full of chore coupons she can redeem when she needs extra help or is tired can be thoughtful.

Also consider a gift that allows you to spend time with Mom, especially if you've already moved out of her home. For example, take her to a special restaurant for lunch or dinner or plan a day together. This is a great opportunity to show your mom how special she is to you.
