How to Make a Baltimore Egg Nog Cocktail

A Baltimore egg nog is a variation on the classic egg nog cocktail that is popular during the holiday months. While traditional egg nog is typically made with spiced Jamaican-style rum, the Baltimore egg nog is made with regular rum and brandy in equal proportions. This recipe makes one cocktail served in a Collins or highball glass, but you can easily double the ingredients in a large cocktail shaker if you need to make more drinks.

Things You'll Need

• Cocktail shaker
• Ice cubes
• 1 whole egg
• ½ tbsp. sugar
• 1 oz. brandy
• 1 oz. rum
• 1 oz. Madeira
• ½ pint milk
• Collins or highball glass
• Nutmeg, grated
• Cinnamon, grated

Instructions

1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.

2. Add the whole egg, sugar, brandy, rum, Madeira and milk to the cocktail shaker.

3. Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 20 seconds.

4. Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a Collins or highball glass.

5. Garnish the drink with grated nutmeg and cinnamon and serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings

• Using fresh nutmeg and cinnamon is preferred in this recipe, but you can use ground, packaged spices if fresh ingredients are not available.
