How to Add a Dogpile Search Engine to a List of Search Engines

Dogpile uses a metasearching capability to scour top search engines, such as Google and Yahoo!, and come up with a complete search page of results. With your web browser, you can include Dogpile in your current search engines to easily access this tool in your window without having to navigate to the Dogpile website first. Using the settings in your preferred browser, add Dogpile to your list of search engines.

Instructions

  1. Firefox

      Click the drop-down button to the left of the search box and select the "Manage Search Engines" option.

      Click the "Get more search engines" link at the bottom of the window and then select the "Dogpile" name from the list of add-on extensions that appears. Alternately, type this title in the text field and click the arrow button to the right.

      Click the "Add to Firefox" button and then click "Add" to automatically include Dogpile in your search engine list.

    Google Chrome

      Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" button next to the search box and then select the "Options" title from the drop-down menu.

      Click the "Basics" tab, locate the "Default search" section in the dialog window and then click the "Manage" button next to it.

      Click the "Add" button, type in the "Dogpile" title in the "Name" text field and the "http://dogpile.com/dogpile/ws/results/Web/%s/1/417/TopNavigation/Relevance/iq=true/zoom=off/_iceUrlFlag=7?_IceUrl=true" address for the Dogpile search results page in the "URL" field. Optionally, enter a term in the "Keyword" field to make a text shortcut. Click the "OK" button when done.

    Internet Explorer

      Click the "Search Options" button to the right of the search field and then click the "Change Search Defaults" option in the drop-down menu.

      Click the "Find more providers" link at the bottom of the window to access Window's "Add Search Providers to Internet Explorer" page (see References).

      Follow the instructions in the "Create Your Own" section to add the Dogpile search engine. Click the "Install" button when done.

Tips & Warnings

  • Restart your web browser if you do not see Dogpile added to your list of search engines right away.
