How to Choose a Static IP Address
Every computer requires an IP address to connect to the Internet. This is a number that helps computers communicate with each other online. Most times, the IP address is assigned by your Internet provider automatically (referred to as a dynamic IP address). You also have the ability to manually select a static IP address. This is necessary for such tasks as VOIP or port forwarding. The problem is the IP address can be any number between 0.0.0.0 and 255.255.255.255. Learn a little about your computer settings to figure out which number you are supposed to enter.

Write down the number located next to "IPv4 Address." You need to choose a static IP based off this number. For instance, say the number is:
192.168.30.4 -

Select a static IP address by changing only the last digit to anything from 1-254. Usually "0" and "255" are used for network protocols, so do not use these. As an example, the number "192.168.30.23" would work as a static IP address.
