How to Burn an ISO Disk Image to a Disk Using a Mac

An ISO image is a file that contains an identical copy from an original source. ISO images contain both the original files from the source media along with all of the data from the file system itself. ISO images are usually packaged on a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. If you are on a Mac computer and want to burn an ISO disk image to a CD or DVD, you can use the utilities built-in to the operating system. There is no need to purchase a third-party application to burn ISO images.

      Launch Disk Utility. Go to "Applications" and double-click the "Utilities" folder. Find and double-click "Disk Utility." This utility allows you to create and burn ISO disk images.

      Insert a blank CD-ROM or DVD-ROM into your computer.

      Click "File" and "Open disk image." Find the ISO image you want to burn and click "Open." The disk image will be mounted and displayed on the left-hand column of Disk Utility.

      Click the "Burn" button at that appears in the dialog box and the ISO image will burn onto the CD or DVD.
