How to Replace the Front Brakes on a BMW Motorcycle

If your brakes don't work properly on your BMW motorcycle, you will be in serious danger of crashing while you are riding. The front brakes on your BMW motorcycle are what give most of the stopping power. The front brakes are located next to the wheel, connected to the bottom of the front fork. The brakes are held in place on the front fork by a pair of securing pins.

  • Motorcycle jack
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Screwdriver
  • Brake cleaner

      Place the BMW motorcycle onto a motorcycle jack to get the front tire off of the ground.

      Remove the securing pins that are holding the brake caliper in place on the rooter with the needle-nose pliers. Pull the brakes off of the BMW motorcycle's rotor.

      Pry the brake pads apart using the screwdriver. Pull the old brake pads out of the brake caliper. Remove the dust shield and clean the shield with brake cleaner.

      Replace the brake shield and the new brake pads to the brake caliper. Replace the brake caliper to the rotor. Replace the securing pin to the caliper. Squeeze the brake handle to set the new brake pads.
