How to Create Backup Copies of Your SIM Card Software

If you have purchased SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card software or you plan on switching computers, having backup copies of your software will protect you from having to repurchase the software if you lose the original. Depending the type of computer you have, you can seamlessly make copies of the software and store it in the event you need it later.

Instructions

  1. Windows

    • 1

Determine where and how you would like to store your copies. You can either burn the copy to a DVD, transfer it to an external drive, or use backup online software.

    • 2

Click on "My Computer" and the hard drive where the SIM card software is stored (usually the "C:" drive). Click on "Program Files" and find the folder for your SIM card software. Right-click on the folder and select "Copy."

    • 3

Click on and open "My Computer" and locate the folder for your external drive if you choose to copy the software to an external hard drive or USB external drive. Right-click using your mouse and select "Paste" from your options. The file will then drop a copy to your external drive.

    • 4

Purchase advanced file-copying utility software if you would like to create multiple copies in multiple locations at one time. For example, ViceVersa Pro will make multiple copies of your SIM card software in seconds (see Resources).

    Mac

    • 5

Click on the hard drive on your home screen (usually titled "Macintosh HD").

    • 6

Click on "Applications" to the left side of the screen once you are in your hard drive.

    • 7

Locate your SIM card software and drag and drop it onto your desktop or your external hard drive (your external hard drive icon will also be on your desktop).

    • 8

If you would like to burn a copy of the software click on the software, and in the "Finder" menu select "File" and "Burn file to disk."
