How to Apply Beads to Shawls
Give your yarn-woven or fabric shawl a new look with bead embellishments. Whether you made your own shawl or purchased one from a resale shop or department store, apply beads to the shawl for a tailored look to fit your personality. Use beads on shawls to create whimsical designs, elegant flower shapes, geometric lines and any other creative design. Apply metallic, wooden, glass or plastic beads of any size or shape on your shawl.

1
Sew beads directly onto the shawl. Use matching embroidery thread to sew rows of beads on the shawl along the collar, around the hem or in vertical columns. You can also sew beads to make creative designs on a shawl.

2
Use permanent fabric glue to apply beads to a shawl. Squeeze fabric glue directly onto each bead before applying to the shawl. Create lines, swirlies and other decorative designs with the beads. Allow the fabric glue to dry completely before wearing.

3
Tie beads to the hem of the shawl. If the shawl is knitted or crocheted and has a yarn fringe, tie a bead to each piece or alternating pieces of yarn. Simply thread the bead onto the yarn and knot twice.
