How to Uninstall Windows Firewall in Vista

Windows Firewall, available on Vista operating systems, helps protect the computer system. The firewall protects against incoming threats, such as hackers attempting to install software or spread worms through your Internet connection. Windows Firewall can be uninstalled from Vista, but it is recommended you do so only if you have another firewall to install.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Start" icon and select "Control Panel."

2. Click on the "Security" text link.

3. Click on the "Windows Firewall" icon.

4. Click on the "Turns Windows Firewall on or off" text link.

5. Click "Continue."

6. Place a check mark next to "Off" to disable Windows Firewall.

7. Click on "Apply" to confirm your changes.

8. Click "OK" to close out the window.

Tips & Warnings

• You do not have to restart the computer after Windows Firewall has been disabled.
