If you have a load of scrap metal ready to take to your local iron and metal yard to make some extra cash, you should take some steps first. If you take the scrap metal in and it is dirty or covered with grease and dirt, the scrap metal plant will not accept the scrap metal load as you may have extra weight and the dirty scrap metal is unfavorable for melting down. Cut off any non-metallic items from your scrap metal. This can include rubber bushing or plastic extensions.

Spray degreaser on the oily and greasy parts of the scrap metal pieces. Allow it to set for 30 minutes.

Hook the pressure washer up to a water source and plug it into a standard 110 volt outlet.

Put on your safety goggles.

Spray off all the dirt, oil and debris you can from your scrap metal before hauling it to a metal yard and selling it.
