How to Load Japanese Language for Windows XP Without the CD

Many innovations in computing technology make selecting and changing language a simple task. Windows XP allows you to change languages without using a disk for installation. In Windows XP, you can even run two or more languages at the same time. You have the option of selecting languages during your computer use. There are steps to changing the operating system language on an existing installation.

      In Windows XP click "Start" and then click "Control Panel". Click "Date, time, language and regional options".

      In the dialogue box, select "Add other languages". In the "Regional and Languages" dialogue box click the check box "Install files for East Asian Languages" under the "Supplemental Language Support" section. Click "OK".

      After the installation has completed click on the "Languages" tab, click the "Details..." button under the "Text services and input languages" section.

      Click "Add..." in the "Text Services and Input Languages" dialogue box in the "Installed Services and Input Languages" dialogue box. Select "Japanese" from the drop-down menu. If you would like to change the keyboard layout, select "Japanese" from the "Keyboard layout/IME" drop-down box. Click "OK."

      Select "Keyboard/Japanese" from the "Installed Services" section of the "Text Services and Input Languages" dialogue box. Windows XP will display your languages on the taskbar. To switch between languages, click the "Language Bar" button and select your language.
