How to Really Make Extra Money by Joining Focus Groups Now
Market research companies help manufacturers create new products and services through focus groups. A focus group consists of six to 12 individuals who match the manufacturer's target customer. The research companies pay the panelists for their time and opinions. The amount varies, but usually depends on the sponsor and length of the session. With enough interest and dedication, you can make focus groups a source of extra income.

1
Register with as many market research companies as possible. This increases your chances of qualifying for various focus groups and earning more money. Provide reliable contact information. You may also have to answer a few questions concerning your ethnicity, marital status, family, education, employment and health. The questionnaire may be optional, but it is best to complete it so the company can place you in appropriate focus groups.
-
2
Wait for notification about research groups for which you may qualify. Most companies contact registered individuals based on the information they supplied during registration. Other companies allow members to view a list of current focus groups on a website and apply online. It is best to check such websites frequently.

3
Provide honest answers during your telephone interview with the company representative. The agent must ascertain that you fit the target demographic and have relevant experience to discuss the product or service. If the focus group is for a new cereal, for instance, then you must have eaten a comparable version from a competing manufacturer. If you qualify for the project, the agent may invite you to join the panel at the end of the interview.
-
4
Write down the information for the focus group, such as the location, the duration, the time and the date. Be sure that it does not conflict with other obligations before you accept.
-
5
Arrive at least 15 minutes early. The extra time allows you to locate the appropriate room and settle in before the discussion begins.
-
6
Listen to the instructions that the moderator provides at the beginning of the session. Answer questions that the moderator asks honestly. Give your opinions about the product or service as clearly as possible. It is also important to listen to the other panelists' impressions of the product or service.
-
7
Wait for compensation. The moderator distributes checks for the stated amount at the end of the session.
