How to Change the Registered Name on a Laptop
When buying a used laptop or computer, you can usually get a great deal on a lightly used system. However, used laptops have existing settings and files, and are most likely registered to the previous owner. This can cause minor problems when installing new software, as the computer will automatically register it under the name of the previous owner. You can easily change the registered owner on your computer to avoid any discrepancies.

Tips & Warnings
You can also change the name registered to the different programs already installed on your computer. This is useful if you originally used a nickname as your registered name and want to change it to something more professional. To do so, click "Edit" followed by "Find" in your system's registry. Type "RegOwner" to find the first name and change its value to the desired name. When finished, press F3 to find the next, and change the value again. Repeat until you have changed all values.
