How to Install Visual Basic 6

Visual Basic is programming language developed by Microsoft that runs on an event-driven platform. Among utilized programming languages, Visual Basic is relatively easy to understand. Downloading and installing the actual development software is the first step when writing in this language. Visual Basic version 6.0's last year of production was 1998. For users who still using the older operating systems, such as Windows ME, it is the best choice for programming in VB. Newer versions of the program will not support an older operating system. If you want a copy of Visual Basic 6.0, the installation procedure is quick and easy.

Instructions

1. Open the Web page for Microsoft Visual Studio on your computer.

2. Start the download by clicking the "Download" button. Put the file somewhere where you can find it easily, such as your desktop.

3. Locate the setup file "vbrun60sp5.exe" on your hard drive.

4. Double click the setup file to start the installation wizard.

5. Read the license agreement and click the "accept" box to begin installation.

6. Follow the instructions provided by the installation wizard to install the program.

Tips & Warnings

• 6.0 is an older version of Visual Basic. Because of this, it is only supported on Windows 2000, 95, 98, ME and NT operating systems. For XP, Vista or Windows 7, you should download the current version.
