How to Change a PDF Page Size

The portable document format, or PDF, was created by Adobe as an easy way to share documents with people who may not have the same programs that created those documents. When you create a PDF, it is a representation of the source file -- the same size, using the same fonts and with the same images. However, you can change the size of the document if you have a PDF editing program such as Adobe Acrobat. That way you can change the size of the document to fit your needs.

Instructions

  1. To Change Your Page Size

    • 1

Open your PDF file in Adobe Acrobat.

    • 2

Click on the "Document" menu and select "Crop Pages."

    • 3

Look for the Change Page Size box. Use this to choose a fixed page size for a letter, tabloid or book. You can also change the page to a custom size by clicking on the "Custom" button and entering the exact size of the page you want.

    • 4

Click "OK and save the file.

    Reduce Page Size by Cropping

    • 5

Launch Adobe Acrobat, open the document you want to edit and click the "Document" menu.

    • 6

      Select "Crop Pages."

    • 7

Under the Margin Controls menu, reduce the file size one-eighth of an inch at a time. If you want to reduce the file size in proportion, meaning for every eighth of an inch you take off the right margin it takes one off the left, top and bottom, click "Constrain Proportions."

Click "OK" and save the file.
