For a child's party, crochet finger puppets. Use a size F hook and a small amount of worsted-weight yarn to crochet six stitches in the round, then crochet evenly for six or seven rounds. This will be the base of your finger puppets; you can embellish them with fun fur hair, googly eyes, buttons or embroidery.

For Valentine's Day, crochet small hearts and string them together to make a garland for each guest. If you don't have time for a garland, simply make one heart for each guest and attach a magnet to the back or a string loop for hanging. To make a crocheted heart, use this pattern from Suzie's Stuff. Make a loop and crochet all of the following stitches into the loop: three triple crochet stitches, three double crochet stitches, chain one, one triple crochet stitch, chain one, three double crochet stitches, three triple crochet stitches, chain two, slip stitch to join to the first stitch.

For a dinner party, encourage your guests to get coffee on the way home by crocheting coffee-cup sleeves for them and giving them each a gift card to a local coffee shop. To crochet a coffee-cup sleeve, simply make 35 chain stitches to start, and join with a slip stitch. Make a single crochet in each stitch around for four rounds. Then increase the following round by working six consecutive single crochet stitches followed by two single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Continue this pattern around, and then work four more even rounds. Finish off and weave in the ends. This sleeve will work as a substitute to the cardboard sleeves they give out at coffee shops with paper coffee cups.

At Christmas, make a crocheted ornament for each of your guests. Crochet a simple circle by making a loop and putting 12 single crochet stitches in that loop, joining with a slip stitch. Increase the next round to 24 single crochet stitches by making two stitches in each stitch from round one. For round three, make one single crochet in the first stitch followed by two in the next and repeat this pattern around. Now you can join with a slip stitch into the first stitch and leave a long tail to make a loop for hanging. Embellish your ornament party favors using a large eye blunt needle and yarn in coordinating colors. Stitch spirals, Christmas trees, or stars onto your ornaments and give them to all of your party guests so they can trim their trees when they get home.
