How to Install a USB to Serial Driver
When you have a device that requires a serial connection to your computer, you may need to convert the serial connection to USB to work with your computer. Computer systems no longer have a serial port to connect devices because a USB connection is now used. However, if you want to use a serial device on your system, you will need a USB to serial adapter which will require the installation of a USB to Serial driver.

Plug the USB end of the USB to serial adapter into a USB port on your computer.

Click the "Cancel" button when the Found New Hardware Wizard appears.

Insert the installation CD that came with the adapter into the drive on the computer.

Wait for the Installation Wizard to appear then click the "Next" button.

Accept the License Agreement then click the "Next" button to continue with the installation.

Leave the option selected for "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" then click the "Finish" button to complete the USB to serial driver installation.

Unplug the adapter and wait for your computer to restart.

Plug the adapter into the USB port, after the computer has restarted, to verify that the adapter is working correctly.

Tips & Warnings
If you are installing the software on Windows Vista or Windows 7, you will need to click the "Restart Now" button, when the Microsoft Windows dialog box appears, to restart the computer.
Windows may detect the adapter cable when it is plugged in and automatically install the drivers for the adapter.
If the Installation Wizard does not automatically appear, you will need to navigate to your CD/DVD drive and double-click on the "setup.exe" file.
