How to Write a Complaint Letter to a Company thumbnail
Complaint letters may get results.

It is always a good idea to write a complaint letter to a company that has provided you with a faulty product, bad customer service or anything else that has gotten you riled up. Companies need constructive criticism to help them identify areas in which they need to improve and your complaint letter can help them in those areas.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down a list of reasons why you are upset or mad at a company. Express all of your frustrations and vent until it is all out. Do not send this list of reasons to the company as the complaint letter. This is because your initial anger and emotions may be expressed in a negative way with rude words and those sorts of letters will not get results.

Look online for a corporate office to send the complaint letter. If you cannot find it on the company's website, go ahead and look at the Better Business Bureau website. It is also a good idea to send a complaint in through the BBB in addition to your complaint letter.

    • 3

Address your letter formally, with your address, their address and the date. Also, include as much information about the product or store that you can. Include the time and date of the incident that has got you so steamed. Be extremely informative and ask what they are going to do to remedy the situation. Include some suggestions for what they can do to make you whole again. Be reasonable or you may come across as someone who just wants free stuff.

Include any and all contact information for yourself. Also, let the company know how long you have been a customer and how disappointed you have been with the company. Let your letter of complaint speak for you and your dissatisfaction. Let the company know that you will write letters to the newspaper, TV stations and any other avenues you can think of to express your dissatisfaction and that you hope the company can provide you with a good resolution.
