Some Verizon Wireless customers choose to block unknown callers for privacy, security or convenience. If you don't want to receive calls from unknown callers or caller ID numbers listed as "private" on your Verizon Wireless mobile phone, set your phone to block those calls using the Verizon Wireless website. Blocked callers will not hear your ringback tone or voice mail greeting, but will hear a prerecorded message from the system letting them know that you are not receiving their calls.

Navigate to vzw.com. Click "Sign In" in the upper right corner of the page. Log in to your Verizon Wireless account using your username or wireless phone number and online password.

Select your phone number from the list if your account's phone numbers. You'll find this list under "My Cell." Click "Go."

Click "Verizon Safeguards" in the menu on the left-hand side of the page, then click "Parental Controls."

Click the tab marked "Usage Controls." Scroll down until you see the menu for "Blocked Numbers." Click on "Blocked Numbers."

Click on "Add Blocks." Select the box next to "Restricted, Unavailable, and Private Numbers" and click "Add."

Tips

Block up to 20 numbers, including unknown callers, from your Verizon Wireless account using parental controls. The phone cannot call or send messages to blocked callers and won't receive notification of missed calls from those numbers.

Warnings

Verizon Wireless charges a monthly fee for parental control.
