How to Play MP3 Files in Windows Media Player

Save

Windows Media Player is a program included with Windows for playing audio and video files. The program plays MP3 files, .wma files, .wmv files, .avi files, .wav files, MIDI files and AIFF files. It also can play and rip CDs, burn CDs from your music collection and play Internet radio.

  • Install Windows Media Player by downloading it from microsoft.com. There is a link in the Resources section. (If the program is already installed, skip this step.)

  • Launch the program and choose a song to play. Press the play button at the bottom, or simply double-click on the song from the list.

  • Add songs to the library if you have MP3s in different places on your computer by clicking Library, then Add to Library, then Add.

  • Play an individual song without adding it to the library by clicking File, then Open, then navigating to the song you want to play.
