How to Convert TXT Documents to Word Documents

You can convert a document ending in the extension ".txt" to a Microsoft Word document with a set of simple to follow steps. You will need Microsoft Word, but this method works for any version of Microsoft Word. Once you convert your file to a Word document, you retain the original TXT file for future reference or use. Send the TXT file to the recycling bin in Windows to delete it if you no longer need it.

Instructions

1. Open Microsoft Word.

2. Click on the File menu or the Microsoft Word icon in the upper left corner of the screen.

3. Choose the "Open" option.

4. Select the TXT file you wish to convert by typing in its location under "File Name" and pressing "Open."

5. Go to the Microsoft Word icon or the File menu and choose the "Save As" option.

6. Type in a new file name for the document.

7. Verify that the file extension says ".doc" or ".docx" to save the file as a Word document; click on "Save" as to convert your TXT document to a Word document.
