Spray a heat protectant spray onto the hair shaft and ends, and comb through with a comb.

Separate the hair into top and bottom halves. The hair must be separated in order to curl without tangling.

Secure the top half with a duck bill hair clip to keep it out of the way when you curl the bottom half.

Curl 2-inch wide sections of hair on the bottom half with a 2-inch-barrel curling iron. The large barrel will help you create the loose curls Alba wears. Curl the sections outward, away from the face. Hold the iron on the hair for five seconds and release.

Release one 2-inch section of hair at a time from the top half of hair. Curl that piece outward, away from the face, just as you did with the pieces on the bottom half. Curl the entire top half in this manner.

Apply a wave-enhancing mouse to the curls when finished curling. Use your fingers to comb through the curls until they relax and appear not to coil tightly. Fluff the hair to add volume and finish the look.
