How to View Photos on a Blu Ray Player

Blu-Ray players are becoming popular because of their ability to display high-definition video output on modern HDTVs. However, not only can they play high-definition movies, they're also capable of playing music CDs, older standard-definition DVDs and your digital photos. In fact, there are two ways you can take your photos from your computer and display them on your high-definition TV using your Blu-Ray player.

Using a CD

  • Place a blank CD into the CD-RW drive (CD burner) of your computer and burn your pictures onto it using CD burning software, which should come standard on most computers.

  • Turn on your Blu-Ray player and place the newly-burned CD of pictures into the player's disc drive.

  • You should be prompted to view the pictures on the CD by your player. Use the remote to navigate through the pictures. The controls will vary according to your device's manufacturer.

Using a USB Flash Drive

  • Plug your USB flash drive into your computer via the USB port.

  • Copy and paste your pictures onto the drive and remove it.

  • Plug the flash drive into the Blu-Ray player using its USB port, which is typically located on the back. Consult your player's owner's manual for the exact location of the port. Older or less expensive players may not have a USB port, thus meaning you will have to use the CD option above.

  • Turn on your Blu-Ray player.

  • Use the remote to navigate through the player's menu and select the USB flash drive. You can then navigate through the pictures using the remote. Remember that every manufacturer will have different controls and a different interface, but they all have similar looks and options.
