How to Make Video Projects for School
Video projects for school can foster a student's enthusiasm for a lesson, as well as inspire a great amount of creativity. By taking part in a video project, you can learn how to tell an intriguing and entertaining story as well as show your understanding of a particular topic. Creating a video for a school assignment can also give you a great excuse to stimulate your artistic side, as well as make a name for yourself at school as the class director.

1
Decide what you'll need for your project depending on the type of video you want to create. If you want to film a story, you will need actors, as well as props, locations in which to film and costumes.
-
2
Write some sort of script from which you can produce your video. You can either write a lengthy screenplay with camera directions and dialogue, or you can write a simple storyline that will leave the actors improvising their lines.
-
-
3
Find a camera to film the scenes. Make sure before you begin that the type of camera you choose is compatible with the medium (VCR, DVD) through which your teacher will present your video.
-
4
Grab some family members and friends to act in your film. Have them memorize their lines if you have written any dialogue. Let them get to know their characters' motivations and talk to them about how you want the character to behave.
-
5
Film your project in a good location (with good lighting and no interrupting sounds). Situate your actors and let the scene unfold. You can try out unique shots and angles during the scene, but try to keep the scene easily comprehensible for your classmates and your teacher.
-
6
Edit your scenes using a video editing software. Microsoft Movie Maker, for example, provides editing tools you can use to create a clear storyline using titles, transitions, video effects, as well as music. This program comes with most Windows-based computers, but if you do not have it, you can either find another editing software online or download Movie Maker from Microsoft.com (see Resources).
-
7
Save the edited movie to a DVD-R or a VHS tape and bring your finished video to class for everyone to enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
Realize that your project will be shown to your classmates. If you are worried about a particular scene that will embarrass you, opt for a better alternative. Also, make sure you leave out any inappropriate language and subject matter that could get you in trouble.
