How to Block or Hide Your Telephone Number on Caller ID

There may be times when you will want to maintain your privacy when using your cell phone or land line telephone. Whatever the reason, there are a few options you can use to block or hide a telephone number on caller id.

Things You'll Need

• Land Line Telephone
• Cell Phone

Instructions

1. 

   Ask for a "Line Block" from your telephone service provider, if you want to block your phone number from showing up on people's caller Id's. This will prevent your number from ever showing up to anyone. To talk to a customer service representative on your cell phone, simply dial 611.
   If there is ever a time when you would like someone to know you are calling, simply dial *82. Magically, your number will appear on their caller ID for that specific call only.

2. Dial *67. This option is used when you only want to block your phone number from showing up on caller ID sometimes. This allows you to block one specific call at a time. This is a temporary solution that allows more flexibility than the first option. Before dialing the person you are calling, dial *67. Your number is now blocked for that specific call.

3. 

   Check these techniques out to see if they work. Call your land line with your cell phone, or do the opposite. You can also call a friend to see if they will answer. Telephone blocking does not work on toll free numbers or emergency services.
