How to Restore Internet Explorer Default Registry Setting

Save

Internet Explorer contains many options for enabling and disabling security and scripting add-ons, and the majority of those options are best left alone except by advanced users. If you have disabled the incorrect add-on in Internet Explorer, you may find that you are no longer able to browse properly because some types of websites no longer function as they should. Restore the default registry settings in Internet Explorer if a change that you have made has created unintended consequences.

  • Click "Tools," then click "Internet Options."

  • Click the "Advanced" tab, and click the "Restore Defaults" button.

  • Click the "Security" tab, then click the "Internet" icon. Click the "Default" button.

  • Click the "Programs" tab, then click the "Reset Web Settings" button (if present).

  • Click the "Privacy" tab (if present,) then click the "Default" button.

  • Click "OK." Close Internet Explorer and reopen it. The settings are returned to their defaults.

  • Click "OK." Close Internet Explorer and reopen it. The settings are returned to their defaults.
