How to Add an iTunes Gift Card to an iTunes Account

According to Apple.com, Apple iTunes is an application available for Macs or PCs that allows you to sync media with iPods, iPhones and Apple TV. The iTunes application allows users to access a marketplace to purchase and organize media such as music and videos. Apple sells iTunes gift cards with credit amounts that can be applied to media purchases through the iTunes application. In order to purchase items with credit amounts from a gift card, the gift card must be properly added to your iTunes account.

Instructions

1. Open the iTunes application on your computer.

2. Click "iTunes Store" on the left side of the iTunes application window.

3. Sign in to the iTunes Store if your iTunes application is not configured to sign you in automatically.

4. Click "Redeem" from the column on the right side of the iTunes application window. The "Redeem" option is located under "Quick Links."

5. Locate the code on the back of your iTunes gift card. The code is usually covered by a silver film that must be scratched off to reveal the gift card code.

6. Type the 16-digit iTunes gift card code into the form beneath "Redeem Code." The iTunes application reminds you to enter the code exactly as it appears on the gift card. Click "Redeem" to add the gift card credit to your iTunes account.
