How to Connect a PC to a Wireless Modem

Wireless Internet is quickly becoming the norm for both desktop and laptop PC's. Wireless modems are devices that combine the functionality of a traditional modem and a wireless router. There are many Internet service providers that now make wireless modems available so that users do not have to purchase a separate wireless router to connect to the Internet. Once you have your wireless modem set up, you will have to connect your computer to the wireless modem.

• Computer
• Wireless modem

Instructions

1. Click the "Network" icon on the bottom right-hand corner of your PC. Choose "View available wireless networks."

2. Double-click the wireless network you want to connect to from the list of available wireless networks.

3. Click the "Connect" button located at the bottom right-hand corner of the window.

4. Enter the network key into the "network key" text box. This is the password you have presumably set on your wireless modem. Re-enter the password into the "Confirm network key" text box.

5. Click the "Connect" button and your PC should be connected to your wireless modem.

Tips & Warnings

• Always set up your wireless network with a password so that others cannot log on to your modem.
