How to Fix Dark Color on a Rear Projection TV

Save

A projection television uses a small lens and projects the image onto the screen of your television (similar to the projector at a movie theater). With a projection television the image may appear rather dark. This makes it extremely difficult to watch the darker scenes of a movie or television show. However, projection televisions come with the option of adjusting the dark color on the screen with only the push of a few buttons on your remote control.

Things You'll Need

  • Projection TV
  • TV remote
  • Turn on the television and let the screen fully brighten up (some projection screens take a few moments to do so).

  • Change the channel on the screen so an image appears on the TV. It does not matter what takes place on the screen as long as some sort of content plays.

  • Press the "Menu" button on the television remote control. A series of options will appear in the middle of the TV screen.

  • Select "Picture Options" and a new set of adjustable features will load on the screen.

  • Press the directional arrow keys down on the remote until you select "Brightness." Press the right arrow key to increase the brightness of the television screen. Watch the content on the screen as you increase the brightness.

  • Accept the brightness increase and exit out of the menu once you have reached an acceptable brightness level on your projection television.
