How to Design Your Own Moving Announcement
Moving to a new address can create confusion for family and friends who need to reach you. Make things easy for them by designing and mailing moving announcements that contain your new contact information. Change-of-address cards are widely available online, but you can easily make your own for a personal touch. Mail the announcements a day before you move; you don't want to confuse anyone by mailing them too early.

1
Choose an announcement style. Postcards and note cards are standard for moving announcements, but you can choose whatever size works best for you. You can buy predesigned blank announcements at a craft or office supply store or use card stock to make your own.
-
2
Open up a word processing program and type in a headline for your announcement. Some examples are: "We've Moved," "Our New Home" or "Our New Address."
-
-
3
Type in your new mailing address, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers. Include cell phone numbers if those are changing too.
-
4
Proofread everything you typed, double-checking for errors.
-
5
Format the text. Change the font to one that expresses your personality, but make sure it is legible. Script or overly styled fonts can be difficult to read.
-
6
Add clip art or a border to your announcement for extra appeal. Most word processing programs have a clip art library with many images. You can also search the Internet for free clip art images. Moving boxes, mailboxes, keys, houses and moving vans add whimsy to your change-of-address card.
-
7
Format the margins to fit the announcement paper you've chosen.
-
8
Print out the number of announcements you need.
-
9
Add embellishments like stickers or glued-on ribbon or buttons to add pizazz to your announcement.
-
10
Stuff envelopes with the moving announcement.
-
11
Address the envelopes and mail your moving announcements.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't want to print the announcements yourself, create the moving announcement in a photo processing program, save the file as a .jpg and then upload it to a photo printing site. Order the number your need.
Instead of clip art, include a photo of your new home.
