How to Download Audio Books & CDs to iPod
Given all of their features--music player, video player, picture viewer--Apple's iPods are relatively inexpensive--between $59 and $399, depending on models available in January 2010. But that value would be short-lived if you could fill your iPod only with music, videos and audiobooks that you purchased through the iTunes Store. By using your iTunes software, you have the ability to add CDs and audiobooks from your personal collection to your iPod. And the best part is, importing either one is done the same way.

1
Insert your audiobook or music CD into your computer's CD drive. iTunes should automatically launch when your computer reads your disc. If it doesn't, open iTunes manually on your computer.
-
2
Click the "Import CD" button in the bottom-right corner of the window that appears in iTunes when your CD is inserted. Once the import is complete, your CD or audiobook will appear in your iTunes library.

3
Connect your iPod to your computer, using the supplied dock connector to USB cable. When your computer recognizes that your iPod is connected, an iPod icon will appear in the device list, which is located on the left-hand side of iTunes, below "Store" and "Library."
-
4
Click on "Audiobooks" or "Music" under "Library" in iTunes' left control panel. Clicking "Audiobooks" will bring up a list of all audiobooks in your library, and clicking "Music" will bring up all of the music in your library.

Find the songs from your CD or chapters from your audiobook that you want on your iPod and select them by clicking on them. To select multiple songs or chapters, hold down the command key on a Mac or the control key on a PC and click on the additional songs or chapter.
-
6
Click on one of the highlighted songs or chapters and drag all of the highlighted items to the iPod icon in the device list. When the iPod icon becomes highlighted, release the mouse button to start transferring the highlighted selections to your iPod.

Tips & Warnings
If you're connected to the Internet, iTunes will automatically import the track names, artist name and album title of your CD and the author, chapter and title of your audiobook. If you're not connected to the Internet, you can add the information manually.
You can also download music and audiobooks for your iPod through the iTunes Store. It will, however, cost you money to get content for your iPod this way.
