Due to spam and other types of cell phone abuse, the ability to block unwanted content is important to all users. Since photos are typically sent as MMS (multimedia service) text messages, users can often choose to block messages themselves on their phones, or they can contact their wireless carrier to have them block the messages. Unfortunately, not all carriers allow users to block incoming text or multimedia message, and not all phones allow users to block MMS messages.
Determine whether you can block incoming MMS messages yourself or whether you will need to contact your wireless company. The next section of this article offers instructions on blocking incoming MMS messages on a BlackBerry. You can also refer to your owner’s manual for specific instructions. This section describes how to turn off this function via your wireless carrier.
Contact your wireless carrier to see whether they allow blocking of MMS messages. Major carriers, such as AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile all allow users to block messages.
Select which MMS messages to block. Be aware that some carriers will not allow you to block individual MMS texts. Instead, you may need to block all incoming MMS messages.

Tips & Warnings
- If the phone allows the user to change text messaging settings, they can usually choose to accept texts from people on their contact list only or from everyone.
- Spammers often use the email address connected with the cell phone number (cell phone number @ wirelesscompany.com). Many wireless companies allow users to set up an alias address for text messages. This makes it much more difficult for spammers to determine the text messaging email address.
