How to Change the Rear Turn Signal Light on a Dodge Truck

Proper operation of your truck's tail lights is vital--the tail lights let drivers behind you know when you are turning and stopping, and even that you are in front of them after dark. The bulbs are accessed from the back of the tail light housing and can be removed with a single screwdriver from the truck bed.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the tailgate and locate the screws that pass through the sheet metal and into the tail light assembly. Remove the two screws with a Phillips screwdriver and set them aside.

    • 2

Grasp the tail light on either side and pull it straight out of the hole in the body. Be careful not to twist or turn the tail light or the alignment tabs could become damaged or broken.

    • 3

Locate the bulb socket on the rear of the housing and turn it counterclockwise. Pull it out of the housing. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket and replace it with a new bulb. Insert the socket back into the housing and turn clockwise to lock it into place.

    • 4

Slide the tail light assembly back into the truck, being careful to slide it straight in. Insert the two retaining screws through the holes in the sheet metal and tighten them with a screwdriver.

    • 5

Close the tailgate and turn the lights on. Verify that the lights are functioning as they are supposed to.
