How to Change a Mailing Address for Free

The U.S. Postal Service allows you to put in a change of address online, over the telephone, through the mail or in person at your local post office. If you want to complete a change of address online or over the telephone, you have to pay $1 (as of early 2010) using a credit card that has your new address as the billing address. If you want to change a mailing address for free, however, you need to either submit the appropriate form through the mail or at the post office.
