How to Reset the Mozilla Firefox Proxy

A proxy server acts as an intermediary between the client computer requesting the information and the server that serves the client. Proxy severs are required on computers connected to local area networks (LANs), but are not necessarily needed on standalone systems. You can easily configure the proxy server settings in Firefox, but if you do not know your proxy server settings, you will need to contact the network administrator for additional assistance.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Tools" menu in Mozilla Firefox and then click on "Options." (In Mac OSX, click on the Firefox menu and then click on "Preferences.")

    • 2

Click on the "Advanced" tab in the options dialog box.

    • 3

Click on the "Network" tab and then click on the "Settings" button.

    • 4

Click on the "Manual proxy configuration" option and then type the required settings information. If you want the proxy settings to be detected automatically then select the "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network" option.

    • 5

      Click on the "OK" button.
