1
Make sure the camera you intend to use is one that will produce high-quality photos. Take along extra batteries--more than you think you will need. Meet the bride as scheduled, and don't be late! There is enough stress on her today without worrying about her wedding dress day photographer.
-
2
Take pictures of every dress the bride tries on, while she is wearing it. Don't skimp on the number of photos taken. Maintaining a calm and patient attitude will help the bride-to-be feel comfortable in putting you to work during the process of choosing her all-important dress.
-
3
Photograph the selected dresses from the front, from the back, from the sides--while zoomed-in and while zoomed-out. Be sure to pay attention to details and photograph accordingly to help the bride remember the pros and cons of each dress.
-
4
Take additional photos of each dress that is in contention after the bride has removed the garment, capturing additional details such as lace, beading, etc. Write down relevant information for each dress: the brand, size, price, and store location.
-
5
Download the dress photographs onto a CD or some other portable memory device that you can give to the bride, along with the explanatory notes. Offer to review the photographs with the bride in case she needs assistance deciphering your notes or remembering which dress is which.

Tips & Warnings
Using a digital camera for this kind of project is likely essential, given the number of pictures that should be taken and the speed at which you should deliver the pictures to the bride. Having high-resolution images that the bride can view closely can help her in the decision-making process.

Don't intrude on the bride-to-be's privacy. This can be a stressful experience in general. Let her try on the dress alone, (unless she requests your help) then have her step outside the dressing room for the photography.
Some bridal shops have explicit rules detailing that no photographs should be taken in the store. If this is the case, abide by the rules and simply write down the relevant details that the bride wants to remember about each dress.
