How to Use Camphor Crystals

Derived from the camphor laurel, an Asian evergreen tree, camphor crystals possess cooling properties when used in bath and body products. Camphor also has applications in ethnic cooking and medicinal ointments. Camphor crystals can be obtained from craft stores or soap making supply websites, and they can be added to concoctions to create one-of-a-kind muscle soothing products.

Things You'll Need

• Camphor crystals (1 tbsp.)
• Hemp butter (1/2 cup)
• Lavender essential oil (2 drops)
• Peppermint essential oil (2 drops)
• Crushed grape seeds (1/2 tbsp.)
• Plastic jar (6 oz.)
• Tablespoon

Instructions

1. Spoon about 1/2 cup of hemp butter into a plastic jar.

2. Heat the hemp butter in the jar for approximately 30 seconds in a microwave.

3. Add the camphor crystals and crushed grape seeds to the warm butter and stir it thoroughly with the handle of the tablespoon.

4. Add the essential oils to the stirred hemp butter and camphor.

5. Heat for an additional 15 seconds in the microwave.

6. Stir thoroughly with the handle of the tablespoon once more.

7. Secure the cap on the plastic jar, and let it settle in a cool place for at least eight to 12 hours.

8. Use as a relaxing and exfoliating foot scrub.
