How to Stop Unwanted Mail on a Mac
Unwanted spam and advertising emails are not merely an annoyance, they can contain malicious software and take up space on your mail server. Apple Mail enables you to manage your mail with preferences and filters that keep junk email at bay. You can even restrict incoming emails to addresses contained in your address book or to which you have previously replied.

Open Apple Mail by clicking the "Mail" icon on your dock. Or you can click the "Finder" icon, then "Go," then "Applications." Double-click "Mail" to run the program.

Click "Mail" at the top of the menu screen, followed by "Preferences" from the drop-down menu. Click the "Junk Mail" icon at the top of the window.

Check the box next to "Enable junk mail filtering" and next to these three exceptions: "Sender of message is in my Address Book," "Sender of message is in my Previous Recipients," and "Message is addressed using my full name."

Click the "Rules" icon. Click "Add Rule," then click "Any Recipient" and change it to "To." Leave the "Contains" button as it is and type in the email address you want to ban.

Click the "Move Message" tab and change it to "Delete Message." Click "OK," then the red button at the top of the Mail Preferences window.
