How to Print an HP Laserjet 4 Test Page

HP LaserJet printers are capable of printing diagnostic pages without the need of a computer. These diagnostic pages are helpful tools that can aid you in determining whether the printer is functioning properly. By using a diagnostic test page, you can identify whether or not the printer has print quality problems. You can also see the printer's menu settings. The self test is not difficult to perform, and you can print one out in just a few seconds.

• HP LaserJet 4 printer

Instructions

1. Press the "Online" button on your printer to take the printer offline. The printer needs to be offline in order to cycle through the printer menu.

2. Press the "Menu" button to scroll through the menu until "Test Menu" appears on the display.

3. Press the "Item" key to enter the test menu. Continue to press the "Item" key until "Self Test" appears on the display.

4. Press the "Enter" button to run the printer self-test page. The test page contains information about the printer settings and the current page count.

5. Press the "Online" button to put the printer back online. Once back online, the printer is ready for printing from the computer.

Tips & Warnings

• Run the continuous self test to print multiple test pages. Select "Cont Self Test" from the self test menu. Press the "Online" button to terminate the continuous self test.
