How to Change the Text Input on a BlackBerry Pearl

When texting or sending emails from your BlackBerry Pearl mobile phone, you might not like the text input option you have selected. Your choices on the Pearl are SureType, which finishes words for you, and Multitap, which requires you to input every letter or number. Switching your text input option requires only a few simple steps.

      Locate Options by pressing the BlackBerry logo key and scrolling to the bottom of the main menu. The Options icon is gray and looks like an audio mixer. Click the icon.

      Highlight and choose "Language" from the Options list. Scroll to "Input Language" and click whichever method you prefer: "English (United States, SureType)" or "English (United States, Multitap).

      Press the "Back" key, which looks like an arrow and is found to the right of the trackball. Your Blackberry Pearl will advise you of the changes made.

      To test your revised text input option, return to the main menu and open the "Messages" icon. Compose a new message and type a few words to make sure your text input option saved correctly.
