How to Add a Standalone Music Player to a MySpace Account

Standalone music players are customized flash players that take the place of the default MySpace music player. These players are usually used to tailor and customize a player to the user's liking. They are fun and free to create online as long as you know to get to the right resources. The creation process isn't one of the easiest, as it does require some patience and a little technical knowledge, but luckily, with the right instructions, you, too, can add your standalone music player to your MySpace page.

Instructions

  1. Upload Your Music Files for Hosting

    • 1

Go to a free music uploading site to host your music files. (See Resources.)

    • 2

Click the "Upload Your Files" or "Upload My Files" action to be redirected to the upload page. Select the "Browse" button and a pop-up dialog window will appear.

    • 3

Locate the music files you want to upload, hold down one of the keyboard's CTRL keys and highlight each song you want to upload, then click "Open." All of the songs will be loaded into the site's uploader and a URL address link will be created for each music file.

    • 4

Open the Notepad application on your computer, type the artist and name for each song, then copy and paste each URL address link below the song in Notepad for reference.

    Creating the Standalone Music Player

    • 5

Access one of the MySpace music player resource websites listed below. (See Resources.)

    • 6

Scroll down to the middle of the page, and browse through the flash widgets or music player templates that will be displayed. Click on one of the MySpace flash widgets or music player thumbnail images that you would like to use for your own standalone music player.

    • 7

Click on one of the colors that will be displayed if you'd like to change the default color of the flash widget or music player template you chose. Click "OK," "Save Changes" or "Music" at the top or bottom of the color editing table to advance to the next step and add your URLs.

    • 8

Copy and paste each URL address from NotePad to the URL table list on the site. Type the name and song title for each song in the data forms to the left of the URLs.

    • 9

Click the "Save" action. An HTML code will be generated for the flash widget or music player template you chose, along with its colors and music URLs.

    • 10

Double-click inside the box where the generated HTML code will be displayed. Right-click over the highlighted region in the box, and select the "Copy" action.

Add the Standalone Player to Your MySpace Account

    • 11

Go to the official MySpace site. (See Resources.)

    • 12

Click the "Safe Mode" or "Edit Profile" link when your MySpace account's welcome page opens.

    • 13

Select the "Edit" action below the "Bio Section" and a blank box will appear. (The table will appear blank if you do not have any other HTML codes already added to your page. If so, scroll all the way to the bottom of the box.)

    • 14

Right-click over the blank area in the box and select the "Paste" action in the drop-down list. The standalone music player's HTML code will appear in the box.

    • 15

Click the "Save Changes" or "Submit" action to save the code to your MySpace account so the standalone player will be active for playback on your page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Saving your URLs in Notepad will make things a lot easier. This will help you to avoid losing your codes, and it will also make things much easier so you can create and add your standalone player expeditiously.

  • The Safe Mode and Edit Profile actions will depend on the type of MySpace account you are trying to add the player to. The "Safe Mode" action will be displayed in Artist MySpace Accounts. The "Edit Profile" action will be available in MySpace 1.0 profiles, and "Profile Editor" will appear in MySpace 2.0 profiles.
