How to Hide Computer Wires

Computers are a major part of our lives today. However, with so much computer equipment in such a small space, cord clutter can become a real problem. Eventually, many computer owners find themselves with a tangle of wires under their desks. This tangle of cords can create a number of problems, including difficulty determining which cord goes where. That tangle of cords can also be a safety hazard, so it is important to keep those cords under control and hidden away.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug all of your equipment and pull your desk away from the wall. You will need to make sure you have room to work, both in front and behind the desk or table.

    • 2

Screw a series of eye bolts into the side of your computer desk, starting with the legs and working your way up. Thread the cords through those eye bolts.

    • 3

Wrap Velcro cord keepers around the cords. After the cords have been wrapped, pull the cord keepers tight and attach them to the inside surface of the computer desk.

    • 4

Plug your cords back into your surge protector or power supply and push the computer desk back into place.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is a good idea to attach small labels to each cord where it connects to the power outlet. Label each cord with the equipment it powers, i.e. computer, monitor, printer, etc.
