How to Change Your Verizon Service to a New Phone Without Updating a Contract
While you may wish to upgrade your cell phone, you may not want to commit to a new contract. Many individuals and businesses will sell you a cell phone without a bundled service contract, although you may pay more upfront than if you had used your "New Every Two" discount. Long-term, opting to forego a contract can save you money, especially if you frequently change equipment or networks. You'll need to acquire your new cell phone prior changing your Verizon service.

Tips & Warnings
Back up your contacts with Verizon's "Backup Assistant" prior to activating your new phone. This can make the cell phone switch more efficient and less time-consuming.
You can also switch mobile broadband cards without signing a new contract or changing the parameters of your plan by acquiring a card and activating it yourself.
If you do not have Internet access, you can call Verizon Wireless or bring your card into a Verizon Wireless store and have them change your Verizon service to a new phone.
