How to Rip Audio Tracks from a DVD
If you own a collection of concert DVDs, you have probably found yourself wishing you could listen to the music on your MP3 player. By ripping the audio track of the DVD to an MP3 file, you can do just that. By downloading and installing Free DVD MP3 Ripper you can rip the audio tracks of any DVD you own to an easily portable MP3 format. Free DVD MP3 Ripper uses its own codecs to decode the audio, so it is unaffected by any copy protection on your DVDs.

Download and install Free DVD MP3 Ripper. The program is completely free of charge and contains no adware or spyware, although the program does only work with Windows.

Insert the DVD you wish to rip into the DVD drive of your computer.

Open Free DVD MP3 Ripper by double clicking on the icon on your desktop.

Click on the folder icon next to the "Source File" heading in the upper right corner of the program's window. This will open a Windows Explorer window, from which you can select the DVD you want to rip.

Select your DVD drive from the Explorer window and click "Open." Select the "Video TS" folder from the next window that opens and click "Open."

Select the VOB file you wish to rip. DVD video is stored as VOB files on the disk. Each VOB file must be ripped separately. To determine which VOB files contain the actual movie, look for the grouping with the largest number of files and the largest file sizes. A two hour movie will typically have between four and five VOB files. Look for the first file with a file size close to 1 GB and that will be the first VOB file of the movie. Alternatively, you can select any file and view it in Free DVD MP3 Ripper's preview screen until you find the file you want. Click on the file to select it and open it in the preview screen.

Click on the disk icon next to the "Output File" heading in the upper right corner of the program's window to select a location to save your MP3 file.

Click on "Change Settings" in the lower right-hand side of the screen to adjust the size and quality of your MP3 file. Click on "Edit ID3" in the same area to change the ID3 of your MP3 before ripping it.

Click the "Rip!" button to begin ripping the DVD audio to an MP3. The process can take a few minutes depending on the size of the file you are ripping. When the process is complete, you should have a playable MP3 file of the audio track of your DVD.

Repeat the process for any other VOB files you wish to rip.
