How to Replace Saturn Fog Lights

While they are not as critical as headlights or even taillights, fog lights are still quite important on your Saturn because they provide additional low-level illumination for wider visibility and greater safety under foggy road conditions. In other words, those cool-looking lights aren't there for mere stylistic purposes. So when a fog light burns out on the vehicle, replace it right away. It's a painlessly quick maintenance procedure. The project car discussed here is a 2004 Saturn Vue, but the process to replace Saturn fog lights is similar across all model lines.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the fog light electrical connector on your Saturn, which is on the back of the fog light. Work your hands through the opening in the trim so that you can access the connector.

    • 2

Lift the locking tab with your thumb. Pull the electrical connector back toward the engine to disconnect it.

    • 3

Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise 1/4 turn with your hand to remove it from the housing.

    • 4

Work the new fog lamp into the housing. Rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it into place.

    • 5

      Reattach the electrical connector.

    • 6

Test the fog lights on the Saturn by turning them on at the switch inside the vehicle.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some Saturns may not come equipped with fog lights.

  • For specific procedures, consult a model-specific auto repair guide.

  • Always read and follow the safety instructions on the bulb package. Some bulbs can burst if you drop them, potentially causing injury; other bulbs should not make contact with your skin because that can damage the bulbs.
