How to Change a Cadillac CTS Headlight
Vehicle styling has came a long way since Henry Ford created his famous Model T. Today's vehicles are not only very stylish, but they also are more efficient. Headlights have come a long way also, from the hazy yellowish glow of the first electric lights to blindingly bright projector beam headlights. Modern styling often creates difficulty for the do-it-yourself auto-repair industry. The Cadillac CTS, for example, has headlights that are intimidating but actually rather easy to change.

1
Open the hood. Choose which side you will begin with. Move to that side and locate the clip pins on the top rear of the air deflector grille. Push in on the pins until they disengage.
-
2
Reach under the front of the car on the side you are working on and locate the clips on the rear of the air deflector. You will need to access these from beneath. Push the clip pins in until they disengage. Remove the front grille.

3
Detach the pins from the front fascia on the side of the vehicle that you are changing the light on. Unclip the pins from the headlight side of the fascia to the center so there is room for you to access the headlight.
-
4
Remove the front fascia bolts from fender with a wrench. Remove the fascia by sliding forward, then pulling down.
-
5
Remove the headlight by using the socket wrench. There are three bolts on the backside of the headlight. Once bolts are removed, pull the assembly forward to remove from the ball stud. Note: This might take considerable force to unseat.
-
6
Remove the electrical connector from the back of the headlight. Remove the headlight from the vehicle. Attach the electrical connector to the new headlight and push onto the ball stud until you hear a snap.
-
7
Return the three bolts to the rear of the assembly, slide the fascia back into position and replace the bolts.
-
8
Replace the front air deflector grille and snap the pins back into position (both top and bottom).
-
9
Turn the headlights on and off to verify proper operation. Repeat these steps on the other side if needed. Close the hood when finished.
